One of the most exciting and empowering things about setting new goals is that you are giving yourself the opportunity to start over. It’s a fresh new beginning for you. When you have what is virtually a blank slate, you can reshape yourself and your career whatever way you want.

Polishing Up Your Personal branding

New goals, new direction, new start.

Does your personal brand reflect the true you?

A short (or long if you are lucky) holiday break is a great time to reassess your image to ensure you are presenting the right impression. When people know who you are and what you stand for, they will be confident in working with you. Opportunities will present themselves and you’ll become an in-demand person. If you are presenting your brand clearly, it will become one of your most powerful tools to take you to your goal.

Managing your Self-Talk

You’re human so there will be days when you “wake up on the wrong side of the bed.” Those are the days when you’ll need to control the chatter that goes on in your head. Don’t let the negative voice slow you down. When you start telling yourself you’re wasting time or that nothing is going to work, it’s time to stop and take stock of things. Change your thinking and start telling yourself something positive.

Positivity is contagious. Just watch everything around you start looking better.

Extend Your Self-Development

To reach your goals, you’ll need to be the best you can be, so that means working on your self development at both the personal and professional levels. Read books, attend webinars, seek coaching, take online courses or do formal study. Each day, try to learn something new that will boost your prospects or make you a better person.

Maintaining Peak Performance

Starting over isn’t easy and it can be tiring. You’ll need to maintain your peak performance at the same time as you are doing everything else.

The clever thing to do is to arrange your work to match your energy levels when you can. Instead of fighting your natural energy cycles, go with them. For example, if you’re a night owl, perhaps work on your self-development after dinner. You’ll find you absorb information much more easily than at any other time.

Take a break!

This is something many of us forget. In the excitement of starting over and chasing our new goals, we work ourselves into exhaustion. It’s vital that you take a break from time to time. You’ll maintain or restore your energy levels and your mind will be clearer. You don’t lose time by taking a break; In the long run, you actually save time because you work better and faster when you’re rested and you’re less likely to become run down and sick.

If you have set yourself new goals this month, and have begun your journey, make sure you look after yourself at the same time. Working with a coach may be a good choice for you if you struggle to balance everything while you’re striving for your goal.
